Campaign Link:

On March 24th, we launched the SENSIMAT campaign with the goal of revolutionizing the way that wheelchair users take control of their health. Many people don’t even know that pressure can lead to problems for wheelchair users and it has been a joy putting this project together, educating the general public, and engaging with wheelchair users in their daily lives. We set out to achieve a goal of $15,000 which would allow us to ship a handful of units to wheelchair users, catch the attention of rehabilitation facilities, and drive forward clinical research in the field. We knew that we had a cool technology and a great cause – what we didn’t expect was the overwhelming amount of positive response that we would get for the project. We reached our $15,000 goal in just over 2 weeks, and we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who donated. We also want to thank our committed partners, MaRS Discovery District, the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and everyone else who helped along the way.

With these funds, we will be able to open up a whole world of possibilities. We have already begun working on improving the hardware design, performing a complete overhaul of the mobile user interface, ensuring that the SENSIMAT works on all cushions, and putting the system through rigorous testing in order to achieve product certifications. On top of this, we have already secured grant funding for testing the system clinically to ensure that it’s the best it can be.

With all that being said, we have 7 days left…. now what?

Since we have been totally blown away by the amount of support we have received so far, we are going to be implementing a “stretch goal” over the last 7 days of our campaign. Quite often Indiegogo campaigns who reach their goal will set their stretch goal at a dollar value. For example, a campaign that hits $5,000, may try and hit $10,000, and give a perk for achieving that. However, we have decided to do something a little different. We are working on finalizing partnerships with several different organizations and through these partnerships we are going to be donating SENSIMATs to wheelchair users who need them.

From now on, every donation that we receive will go directly towards donating a SENSIMAT to a wheelchair user!

We are going to be pushing really hard to make this happen and we need all of your help spread the word. If we can hit $25,000 we can potentially donate 25+ SENSIMATs!  Please get in touch with us by emailing [email protected] if you have any connections with organizations would deserve a donated SENSIMAT.

Thanks for all the support and let’s knock this out of the park!
